Recruiting Students

The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal needed posters to recruit Civil Engineering students in their third year of post-secondary education. It was felt that there was no need to paraphrase the headline into something compelling, since the offer itself was really sweet.

Melon typically generates 20 – 30 concepts and refines a shortlist of selected concepts on the computer. Above are a series of concepts which cover a spectrum from ‘contemporary sub-culture executions’ like the red illustrative approach to more traditional approaches like the ‘blurry crowd/hardhat’ poster. The white hardhat is a well-recognized icon that represents engineers. The explanatory text on the mock-ups was dropped in favour of a blank area where recruiters could write more tactical information on each poster.
